    What is a spiritual name?
    A spiritual name is a vibration, a frequency and a tool that helps to elevate your energy through the power of its naad (inner sound current), and through the divine essence of its meaning. It is your soul identity. It challenges you to live in your highest consciousness and helps you progress towards your ultimate destiny.

    Why do people wear white in Kundalini?
    Yogi Bhajan taught us that wearing all white clothing expands our auric radiance by at least one foot. That is a good thing. A strong aura gives us a strong and solid identity and projection, and negative influences are automatically filtered.

    Why is sheepskin often used in Kundalini?
    The use of sheepskin within a Kundalini yoga practice is a personal preference. Traditionally, many yogis have used animal skins to sit on during yoga and meditation. Yogi Bhajan recommended the sheepskin for meditation, as it created an insulation between the yogi and the magnetic pull of the earth.

    What does Sat Nam mean?
    The most popular mantra associated with Kundalini is (hands down) Sat Nam. In simple terms, Sat means truth and Nam means name, vaguely translated to Truth is My Name. Essentially, it’s a way for one to acknowledge that our personal essence is The Essence. When we say “Sat Nam” in Kundalini yoga, we’re greeting one another in a way that says, “I see and recognize your true nature.”

    Why wear a turban?
    Yogi Bhajan taught us that the hair is alive and has an energy function. We are training ourselves to be aware of and master our subtle energies. He recommends covering the head and hair with a cotton cloth or wrapped turban.

    Is Kundalini Yoga a religion?
    Kundalini Yoga is not a religion. When we apply the technology of Kundalini Yoga to our bodies and minds, it has the effect of uplifting the spirit. It is for everyone. It is universal and nondenominational.

    What is a Kriya?
    The word kriya means action. It is an action that leads to a complete manifestation like a seed leads to a bloom, a thought into actuality, a desire to commitment.

    It’s a committed prayer. It is self-enrichment. It is not something which is done to please somebody or to gain something. Sadhana is a personal process in which you bring out your best." -Yogi Bhajan
